Foster Care Program
Our shelter occasionally uses foster homes for kittens or pups under 8 weeks of age, pregnant or nursing dogs and cats, or injured animals. We currently have a few experienced foster families and are seeking a few more to add to our list so that we have more volunteers to turn to when we have animals that are not quite ready for adoption.
Volunteers are asked to start by filling out the HSLC adoption application for pre-screening, after which they will be contacted by a staff member to discuss the “ins and outs” of fostering. Volunteers must have a current veterinary reference and are also required to read and sign the foster agreement outlining the responsibilities of the fostering party in detail.

Our Featured Pet!

Brothers Curly and Moe came to the shelter as kittens in May '07. Moe was recently adopted. Curly is still waiting for a new home, but is often overlooked because he has a weepy eye as a result of an eye infection when he was a baby. He is such a sweet fella and has so much to offer to the person that is willing to take him home. Meet him during our adoption hours noon-4:30.
