Before the Walk
· Walkers 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
· The “Petwalk” is a fund-raising event for the benefit of the animals and the animal welfare programs at the Humane Society. All walkers must have sponsors. Ask you friends, relatives and local merchants to sponsor you for the walk.
· Have your sponsors fill out the sponsor sheet. Advise your sponsors that all pledges are due immediately so you may turn them in on the morning of the walk.
· You are encouraged to sign up as many sponsors and seek the most pledges possible. Sponsors will pledge one amount for the entire walk.
· Prizes will be awarded to walkers raising the most funds.
· If additional sponsor sheets are needed they may be picked up at the shelter or downloaded from our website at www.hslc.pondpets.com
· Be sure your dog is in shape for the walk, is wearing a suitable collar and is kept on a leash at all times. Dogs must be at least 6 mos old, vaccinated for parvo, distemper and rabies and have a valid dog license. No females in season will be allowed.

 

Morning of the Walk
· The Walk will begin at 1pm on Sunday, June 1. Registration begins at Noon at McDade Park, and sponsor sheets and funds will be collected at this time.
· Enter near pool area and follow signs.

During the Walk
· We encourage you to walk only the distance that you and your pet are accustomed to walking.
· Water will be available for walkers and their dogs at checkpoints.
· Public relations is an important part of any Humane Society function. Please obey all park rules and keep your dog under control at all times. Pooper Scoopers will be provided, so ask any volunteer for assistance if your dog should relieve himself along the way. Remember that we’ll be in the public eye and must demonstrate responsible pet ownership.
· A veterinarian or vet-tech will be available for emergencies. HSLC is not liable for costs incurred by owners at the walk.
After the Walk
· Refreshments will be available at the conclusion of the walk and awards will be presented .
